Dino releases F-14D v0.95 / Sim-Outhouse Hacked.

Dino Cattaneo has released v0.95 of his F-14 Tomcat.

Dino states that he will not have much time to work on it in this days, nor thinks he will have time anytime soon... But did get rid of some of the most annoying issues (namely the a/b bleed and the misplacement of the formation lights).

He has also did some adjustments to the nose and canopy geometry, while missiles have been redone from scratch.



I guess some users have there complaints of the model. I for one love the model and I say to those critics who bitch and complain about the small stuff... if you think you can do a better job than what Dino has done (which I doubt you can) keep your mouth shut and enjoy what he has created for us or make an F-14 yourself. You are lucky its free. I think he understands that there is still stuff wrong with the model and like he has said before he will get to it when hes ready and has the time. The man has a life too you know. So instead of rivet counting.... go fly! Its what its all about anyway.

*Fixed formation lights
*A/B effect coding redone (effect bleeding through fuselage when a/b is off should have been fixed)
*Fixed non working pitot heat switch
*Cleaned several cockpit texture glitches and added shadows (courtesy of Brandon Templeton)

*Redone AIM-7 and AIM-9 models-Fixed minor glitches in the cockpit geometry

In the mist of all the flight sim community websites being hacked yet another has fallen victim to the low lives. Well I hope you all had an outstanding weekend. I sure did =) I found that IRIS Simulations/ Audioworx has released their new sound package for their upcoming release of the F-16D. I hope this means the release of the Fighting Falcon is nearing. Also hope its not as frame intensive as the Aerosoft F-16A/C.

They do have one freeware aircraft called the Mini-Max which you can find HERE. It may be a simple bird but the quality is very high. A must have if you like ultralight aircraft.The Mini-Max is a popular homebuilt ultralight aircraft. Built of wood, with fabric covering, and with a Rotax 2-stroke engine, these aircraft are a fun and affordable way to fly.

Late Saterday Night

I was toying around with flight sim this afternoon and I found a repaint for Dino Cattaneos F-14D. It looks pretty good. It is VF-31 Tomcatters. You can find it at sim-outhouse HERE. There are a few things with the paints that are messed up such as reversed text.



Another aircraft I dabbled with today was the A-22 Foxbat by Rick Piper. You can find this aircraft HERE. It is such a nice aircraft I would recommend it to anyone.





And the last bird I was messing around with is the Evektor EV97 Eurostar.
This is a complete package with custom sound and gauges, 2D panels & virtual cockpit. This release includes one version modeled on OH-U507, and also a Basic-T panel version. If you like to check it out you need to download this first http://files.fsnordic.net/?download=2157. Then download and install the update http://files2.fsnordic.net/files/zip/General_Aviation/EV97_V11_080113.zip so that it will work in service pack 2. (******I found that the links dont work immediately but if you highlight the link in your browser then push the enter key the download box will appear.******) Then you need to go to the texture folder named OH-U402 find the glass bmp and prop bmp and copy and paste it into the other texture folders so you can see out the window. Another cool thing my bro Todd pointed out to me this week was this contraption.....

I seen on simviation that Danny Garnier has made the Coral F-15 flyable in FSX. The Coral F-15 was another of my favorites in FS9 and Im glad to see it ported over so thanks Danney for taking the time to port it over for us!





The other day I had a topic on gauges and other hardware for you flight sim. One of the products I had mentioned was VRInsight product. One of Avsims senior reviewers just posted a review on their products today. You can find the full review at AVSIM.

Home Cockpit Controls and Gauges and F-14D UPDATE

I would like to talk about cockpit controls and gauges for your flight simulator. There are a few websites I would like to point you to if you are interested in taking your flight sim experience another step further.

The first website I would like to point you to is a very well known brand called Saitek. They have a new Pro Flight Series that look really nice. They just recently released the Pro Flight Instrument Panel which is a 3.5 inch LCD screen and acts basically as an MFD.

The next website I would like to point you to is another well known brand in the flight sim community. CH Products does both gaming joysticks as well industrial joysticks. In the gaming categorie they do everything from multi function panels, yokes, joysticks, throttles, and rudder pedals. In the industrial side they produce finger operated joysticks, hand grip joysticks, trackballs, and switches.

The next website is called GoFlight. They produce modules to racks to whole systems that cost a couple grand.

The next website I'll point you to is VRInsight. Its a new site for me I just recently found it on an ad somewhere. Their products look nice though.

Im sure there are others out there, some probably better than others but this just gives you an idea whats availiable. I hope this was helpful. Dino to release Tomcat

Welcome to Monday.....the most dreaded day of the week. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and spent it with the ones you love. I know I did for sure.

Good news today! Dino Cattaneo says that he is ready to release his F-14D to the public. He states on his blog that "I've just finished compiling a build that I consider "good for release". I think the visual model is Ok, the flight model does its job and the cockpit is working. I am not completely satisfied with the cockpit quality level as it is full of bugs: some buttons are still inoperative, or mapped incorrectly and some gauges do not work as they should. BUT, as it is unlikely I will have enough time to fix those bugs in the next couple of weeks I have decided to release it as is."

I believe Dino will probably release a series of service packs just like he has done with his T-45C Goshawk. Good things take time to make. Take your time with it Dino, Im sure it will be just as great as your Goshawk. I cant wait to take the Tomcat up tomorrow. I think I may take her to my old stomping ground, NAS Oceana and head to Fentress for some FCLPs before considering taking it out to the carrier. I will post a download link once it is availible to the public.

I just found out today that IRIS Simulations is in going to be adding a new addition to their Pro Series. They are adding the F-16D Fighting Falcon. I havent got word on a release date yet but I did find a YouTube video which you can watch HERE. IRIS is also adding a new division to their company called IRIS AudioworX. You can check it out on the link provided above.
